How To Care For Your Breast Implants

Thanks to a large celebrity following, including Hollywood starlets such as Kate Hudson, Megan Fox, and Gisele Bundchen, the topic of breast implants is not nearly as taboo as it once was. Over the past decade, breast augmentation surgery has been glamorized by the media – and as result, many women are not fully aware of the maintenance required to ensure a lifetime of healthy, beautiful breasts.

Massaging your implants and having routine check–ups plays a key role in safeguarding your aesthetic outcome. Here at Aesthetic Enhancements Plastic Surgery we use quality, FDA approved Mentor implants, and Dr. Soto recommends having them exchanged every 7–15 years depending on the type of implant. Saline implants should be replaced every 7 to 10 years. While silicone implants last a bit longer – normally 10 to 12 years.

When having a mammogram, it is important to inform the technician of your implants – just to be sure that extra care will be given. There is no need to worry about mistaking the implants on a mammogram reading for a potential disease – an experienced doctor would easily be able to distinguish between the two.

Deciding to undergo breast surgery is a very personal choice, one that requires much deliberation and careful research. If you are interested in learning more about breast surgery options, call today to schedule your complimentary consultation with Dr. Armando Soto. He looks forward to helping you achieve your aesthetic goals.
